
Dr. Taryn Lamp PT DPT
Taryn received her doctorate of Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University in 2013 and her undergraduate degree from Covenant College in Natural Science in 2009.
Her practice has varied through her career from skilled nursing and geriatrics, to neurology and currently outpatient orthopedics and manual based therapy. During her time in skilled nursing she developed a passion for treating older adults. Working with patients on maintaining strength and function, fall prevention and recovery, improving and maintaining dynamic balance and managing chronic conditions to be able to maintain the ability to enjoy our hobbies and lives as we all grow older. She has since transitioned to outpatient orthopedics and has done additional training in treating dizziness, vestibular dysfunction and concussion recovery, osteoporosis management, taping, cupping and dry needling, and basic pelvic floor dysfunction. As a proud neurodivergent she enjoys learning new and different things about the human body which has allowed her to become a great generalist.
She takes advantage of her continuing education requirements to learn new techniques and stay current with the research to be able to provide the best care for her patients. She hopes to one day know it all! Taryn believes a hands on approach is vital in recovery to be able to treat pain and dysfunction be able to reinforce better patterns with proper movement and exercise. Taryn is skilled practitioner of a variety of manual therapy techniques to achieve these goals including trigger point dry needling, cupping, IASTYM, trigger point release, soft tissue and joint mobilization and more. Her passion is education and advocacy and she spends a lot of time with each patient to make sure that they understand their bodies, their current dysfunction and how to best advocate for themselves within the healthcare system during their recovery.
As a queer neurodiverse provider Taryn always strives to provide a calm and affirming environment where all bodies can receive care and work towards healing and recovery. She is a self described old lady and will tell you all about her grandma hobbies, artistic pursuits and books she is reading. She enjoys being outdoors and is happy to be back in Virginia to enjoy all its wonders on hikes, bikes and in the kayak.
